Surprise Birthday Fun!

Oh my word! Jodi, Kylie, and the Top Dogs surprised me with the best birthday ever last week! You have to see the cake they had made. The kids took the picture when I was at a literacy meeting one morning and completely surprised me! Jodi and Kylie also made me a Sioux blanket that I took with to the Final 5! I sure felt special! :)

I am absolutely spoiled by these kids and my helpers! THANK YOU SO MUCH! What a day! :)

QR Scavenger Hunt = Technology Fun!!!

On green day and Miss Reese's last day, we spent some time in the morning going on a QR scavenger hunt! Kids worked in teams of 3 or 4 to scan codes throughout the school that were linked to questions we have covered in our curriculum. The kids had to "mall walk" to different locations, including the Lost and Found, main Office, Mr. Marolt's office, Mrs. Schantz's classroom door, the Media Center, our Computer Lab, our doors we use for recess, our classroom, and inside the doghouse in our room! Whew! Each question was linked to a few different answers and a hint of where to go to next, depending on whether they scanned the correct answer or not. When the kids were back in the room, they worked in their teams to make a digital book on the Story Creator app using pictures they took on their scavenger hunt. I was really impressed with how they used our iPads and used teamwork to complete the tasks. Here are some pictures I was able to snap as I ran around like a crazy woman trying to get pictures of each group! These kids can walk fast!

TTFN,
Mrs. Delzer <3

PS We miss you SO MUCH Miss Reese! Thanks for making the codes for the hunt! :)

Once the teams made it back to the clasroom, they took turns working on Story Creator to make books about the scavenger hunt. We can't wait for next year when they will each have their own iPad ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! :)

..::GREEN DAY::..

Last week to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Challenger had green day! Green day was a busy day! We enjoyed lunch in the classroom, and had a green feast! We also had a QR scavenger hunt, and listened to Mr. Marolt talk about how to be safe during a lockdown drill at Challenger. We topped it all off with Annie's visiting the classroom to be a Mystery Reader, and reading with our 4th grade reading buddies!! Whew!!

THANKS for helping your child remember to wear green and bring in some yummy green food!

I love looking at all of these kids wearing my favorite color! Who can guess why green is my favorite color? :)

Toodles,
Mrs. Delzer <3

Lukas was SOOOO excited to be the Tweeter of the Day on green day! :)

Look at this GREEN FEAST!

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT! LET YOUR SHAM ROCK! :)

"Cheers!"

Thanks for being our Mystery Reader, Amy! :)

Look at this sea of green! I LOVE IT! Can you see Ike sitting on his sister's lap? CUTE!

PLEASE VOTE YES TO GIVE OUR SCHOOL IPADS!

On Thursday, we checked out the iPad cart for the whole day and we felt like we were in technology heaven. "Mrs. Delzer! You mean I have MY OWN IPAD to use for THE WHOLE DAY!?!" This made me think about how passionate I am about going 1:1, and how much my students want and NEED this opportunity, too. Together, we made this video to show our School Board this passion for technology.

Please VOTE YES to give our school iPads and go 1:1!

Snowshoeing Adventures: Cold Toes, Warm Hearts

Our school is so blessed to have an awesome paraprofessional, Kenny, who takes classes snowshoeing throughout the winter. Our class has been able to go 2 different times now, and we LOVE it. It is a great workout, and it is so fun to be out on the prairie with Kenny. What a guy! Here are some pictures of our day of snowshoeing with Mr. Delzer's All Stars. It was sunny, no wind, and the temperature was about 30 degrees! It was a beautiful day with beautiful kids! :)

Toodles,
Mrs. Delzer <3

PS A special thanks to Annie's mom, AMY for volunteering to snow shoe with us! You rock! :)
