Life Sized Elves: A Christmas Craftivity

Here's my latest TPT product! I can't wait to make these cuties with my Top Dogs the first week in December! I have been fighting every urge to put up our tree in the classroom this week! We will celebrate Thanksgiving first, and then Christmas! I have to fess up though...we did jam out to some Christmas tunes while doing handwriting on Thursday. I will post lots of pictures of this project when I hang them up. They turn out almost as big as the kids! SO CUTE!

You can pick this pack up at my TPT store, or comment below with your email address for a chance to win your own copy! It includes 7 different writing choices to choose from! :)

Speaking at My Alma Mater, GO UND!

At the beginning of this school year, Mr. Reynolds invited me to speak to his preservice teachers at UND. I was flattered and so thrilled! I can't believe it has been 9 years since I was sitting in the classroom at UND taking Intro to Teaching and Learning!

Well, I went to UND yesterday and spoke to his class about what real world teaching is like! I gave them a classroom tour and explained the purpose for everything in our room and gave them some tips. I also talked about our classroom blog and Twitter account and how I use them as tools to connect with other teachers and parents. I showed them our Remind101 account and how I use it as an additional tool to communicate with parents. Finally, I showed them some of my favorite apps we use on our iPads everyday, and answered some questions they had. It was such a privilege to be invited back to my alma mater to speak to these students! Thanks for the invitation Mr. Reynolds!

Love this quote! I shared it with them last night.

Heroes Don't Always Wear Capes!

We have been learning a ton about Veterans and their importance to our country! Before we started our work, some students thought Veterans were people who didn't eat meat! Ask them the difference between a vegetarian and a Veteran now! They will be able to tell you the difference! Kids say the funniest things! :)

Carlie's grandpa came in to speak about being a Veteran, and he even brought his uniforms in to show the Top Dogs. We also read a Scholastic News about Veterans Day and made a minibook about Veterans. To wrap up this mini-unit, we wrote thank you letters to Carlie's grandpa.

THANK YOU VETERANS!

Halloween Party Pics!

We had such a fun day celebrating Halloween together in school! We made spooky stew, ate caramel apples, played Halloween memory, colored a mystery picture, and made Jack o Lanterns! We also played Math Zombies on our iPads and had a costume parade!

Here I am dumping in some fireflies!

Mixing up the spooky stew!

Gabe had the munchies! :)

Happy Birthday, Mr. Wienen!

Duck Dynasty Crew

Thank you for coming to volunteer, Kristina!

Bo's mom came to help out too! We are spoiled! :)
Hayden was gone on Halloween, but her mom snapped this picture of her and I wanted to make sure everyone saw this little cutie's costume! :)

Happy Halloween from Mrs. Delzer's Little Monsters!

PUMPKIN DAY 2013!!!

Pumpkin Day 2013 was a huge success! I had over 100 pictures, and I had to narrow it down to a little over 50 for this post! Make sure you scroll all the way down to the bottom to see all of the good stuff! :)

We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin and did tons of science and math activities with our pumpkins. We even had a pumpkin taste test and found out we all actually like pumpkin flavor!

Amazing! Max had the heaviest pumpkin at 23lbs and also the tallest at over 13 cubes tall! Tyler's pumpkin had the most seeds with over 700 seeds! WOW!!!

Yes, that is pumpkin jelly!!! :)

Becca's pumpkin weighed exactly 10 pounds!

This was Max's reaction to finding out that even though his pumpkin weighed 23lbs, it still floats because of the air inside the pumpkin! So cool!!!
