Red Ribbon Week 2014

Last week, our school celebrated Red Ribbon Week and learned some important lessons about the importance of being drug free and staying healthy to achieve our dreams. We also learned about when it is okay to take medicine, and who we can take medicine from. We dressed up each day and did some research about being drug free. On Friday, we even wore drug free crowns and signed a drug free pledge. It was a fabulous week!

Midwest Blogger Meet-Up in Chicago!

Last weekend, I met up with some teacher bloggers in Chicago! I have been following many of these ladies from around the Midwest on their blogs and other social media for a while now, but I had never met them in person!

My roomates for the weekend were Lindsey Johnson, Angie Olson, and Katie Palmer. Lindsey and I are friends from my old school, but I had never met Angie or Katie in real life until we met up for the big 10 hour drive! I love them just as much in person and I do online! We will be lifelong friends for sure!

We took off on Friday morning and drove pretty much the whole day. There was rarely a quite moment in the car! We were so excited to finally meet each other and share lots of ideas. Chatting with these awesome educators fires me up!

Saturday morning, we got up early to head into the city. It was a rainy morning, so we took in a cup of coffee at Starbucks while we looked out at the skyscrapers and fall colors in Grant Park. Then, we took in The Bean, Chicago Fashion Week, and some site seeing. The blogger meet-up was the icing on top of the cake! It was awesome to meet so many talented bloggers and I had an awesome afternoon of fun and collaboration! There's something really special about the energy in a room when passionate teachers meet up to share and collaborate, even if they are "strangers" in real life.

We spent Sunday driving back and sharing more ideas and swapping stories. Can I just say I already miss these ladies!?!

Here are lots of pictures of the amazing weekend that I will never forget!

This is Jane from Learning in the Little Apple! We have been Instagram and blog friends for a long time! It was awesome to finally meet face to face!

I recieved over $150 in awesome swag from companies like Target, Lakeshore, Creative Clips, and Creative Teaching Press! I even have a coupon code for all of you teacher followers out there. You can click this link to recieve 20% off at Lakeshore, compliments of the Midwest Blogger Meet-up and Lakeshore!

Can you believe I got all of this for FREE!!?!

I was proud to be the only blogger from ND at this meet-up!

Our First Field Trip!

Last week, we took a bus across town to see the Ukrainian Kaleidoscope presentation! I was genuinely impressed with how the kids behaved on the bus and at the show. We learned lots about Ukraine and its traditions. We loved learning new songs and the Ukrainian alphabet too! Here are some pictures of this awesome morning!
