Happy Halloween!!!

Hey spooktacular Top Dogs! I will post lots of pumpkin pictures on Friday of all the awesome science we are doing this week. But for now, here are some pictures of our Halloween day in The Doghouse. We did fun Halloween stations, ate Mrs. Delzer's Spooky Stew, watched a spooky movie, walked in a costume parade, played games, ate more caramel apples and candy, and planted pumpkins inside of pumpkins! We also ate lunch in our classroom! Gosh, it seems like we did a lot of eating today! :) I had so much fun, and I have already seen some Top Dogs at my house! It was opposite day in The Doghouse today - Mrs. Delzer was the Cat in the Hat instead of a dog! Strange!! I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the families that brought in ingredients for our Spooky Stew!! It was yummy!

What an frightening fun day!!!

Your Batty Teacher,
Mrs. Delzer :)

PS Happy 40th Birthday, Mr. Wienen!!!

Doubles Facts Pumpkins + Work on Words

Wow! I was checking my iPhone tonight, and Grace (our historian this week) and I took 59 pictures of things happening in our classroom over the week! A few highlights include learning our new Word Attack Strategies, doing some compound words activities, learning a fun way to practice our spelling words during Work on Words, and practicing our doubles facts! I will post the compound words activities early next week.

During Work on Words this week, the Top Dogs needed to Stamp it Out! Work on Words is part of our Daily 5, which is done during our reading workshop. It is a time for kids to get EXTRA practice with their spelling words each week, in addition to spelling time. The Work on Words activities provide hands-on practice with the words, and will be switched up throughout the year.

I also took down our art clips from the ceiling, and hung up some pink and purple tulle across the classroom to hang our work from. I think it looks SO cool!!! Here are some pictures of our Doubles Facts Pumpkins. I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday!

Love,

Mrs. Delzer :)

PS Our class welcomed 3 new Top Dogs to our Challenger family this week. WELCOME TO THE DOGHOUSE! :)

This is Bobby! He had a great first week in The Doghouse! :)

These guys were hanging up during PT conferences, but I had some requests for a picture of them from other teachers! Here is an example of a boy Frankenstein. The girls wear the bow in their hair!
