Measuring Maniacs!!

In our current unit in math, we are working a TON on measurement. During the last two weeks, we have been focusing on measuring in centimeters, inches, feet, yards, and meters. We have measured just about everything you can possibly think of, from people, to items around the classroom, the length of the hallway, and even sand castles! Here are pictures of us being measuring maniacs!

Note to self: never trust Kadin with a tape measure again! :)

We drew houses and measured the perimeter of them. We learned that perimeter means to measure ALL THE WAY AROUND. Right, Top Dogs? :)

Here is a flap book we made, and hung up on our lockers. We had to sort items into three categories: about an inch, about a foot, and about a yard. This was a lot of thinking and fun! :)

The rest of these pictures are from our sand castle scavenger hunt today! 9 sand castles were hidden around the room, and the Top Dogs had to estimate the height in inches, and then find the exact measurement! One of the sand castles was only one inch tall! This was the trickiest sand castle to find. So much fun! :)

This unit has been so much fun! Up next, the GallonBot!

Toodles,
Mrs. Delzer <3
